SME - Lack of service

Poor customer service due to a lack of understanding of how my business works in practice. Despite the fact that a personal relationship would be better, the mobile app, is good and easy to access.

Good app and good service

My needs are quite simple. Most banks do service really, really badly. Barclays haven't upset me yet. I particularly like the easy to use app. It helps me pay my suppliers quickly, and has no admin burden.

Great Account for a Small Business with Basic Needs

Ok

Online system, can integrate with accounting system. BACS as it is free of charge. Better support to small businesses would help as would better maintaining website and making online banking easier to use. Charges are sometimes excessive.

I set up the account with Barclays as it seemed easier joined with my personal. however the account took nearly a month to open and there are a lot of hidden charges.

I have also reviewed my last statements and the bank charges have gone up nearly double. I plan now to shop around and see which bank can offer the best rates.

I find Business Banking efficient as I can do it all online.

I don't know who my current business bank manager is at the moment - they send a letter every time it changes, but because I find I can do everything I need to online, I never have the need to contact my dedicated manager. I keep the business account in credit at all costs, because I know from the experience of others that Banks are very tough and inflexible when it comes to overdrafts/business loans. I find the PinSentry security system quite clumsy for online business banking, although I appreciate security is of paramount importance. But it can be inconvenient when the battery runs out in the machine and you have some urgent transactions to do!

The Barclays Business Banking Provision for Small Companies is okay on a day-to-day level. Their online facilities and SmartPhone APP are excellent, but if I need to contact my personal relationship manager it's terrible. I have his direct email, but he takes a long-time to answer and is not interested in helping beyond the standard requests I could satisfy myself via the online service.

If you are looking for a simple product that's largely managed online this is a good account for you. If you want a more personal, human touch look elsewhere.

Overall, I'm quite happy with Barclays - I've never thought of leaving...but I would say that they don't seem to be the quickest / more attentive to business needs. Sometimes things feel like they take too long, or standard questions seem to throw them a bit
