After over 20 years banking with them I was debanked...

After over 20 years banking with them I was debanked by Barclays, who refused to give me a reason. They closed all my accounts except for my mortgage, which meant I could no longer use the offset arrangement I had. I had just months before paid over £1000 arrangement fee to get an offset mortgage which worked well for me because I have a large savings pot. It would also cost me over £1000 to end the arrangement early. As long-standing, loyal customers, we were treated like criminals by our own bank. Reviewed on: 9th February 2025

Easy to contact and setup

It was easy to contact them and get an appointment via their video chat. I managed to set up our joint account and after this a child savings account all in a very timely manner. The staff were also very friendly Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

Premier Bank Account

Solid format and procedures for on-line banking and a very good experience of telephone banking. Blue rewards is a faff but a necessary evil for the competitive Rainy Day Saver. Some good ISA offers but transfers in currently disappointlingly slow. Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

Branch closed

met scammers

I have been a client of this bank for more than five years. For five years I had no reason to contact the bank for help. And then a month ago I came across scammers. The scammers turned out to be very clever and it took me about a month to discover the fraud. Friends advised me to contact my bank and ask for help in returning the money. I did just that, I called the bank on the same day and was ready to wait a long time to connect with the operator, but, to my pleasant surprise, I was connected to the operator in just two minutes. I received a highly qualified service, being an ordinary client of the bank, I received a VIP class service (the operator communicated very politely and courteously, the bank operator thoroughly studied the situation, checked all the data I provided, and during the day the bank returned the money that I paid to the scammers!) I I am very grateful to the employees of the bank and the "term and condition" of Barclays Bank. I felt the reliability and security of the bank! I am very glad that I am a client of a reliable bank. Could improve

I’ve banked with Barclays for over ten years, I have found that even though I deposit money every week and every month, there are no rewards for this loyalty. Good points are that it operates on a Saturday and that it is secure. Bad points are trying to get through to someone via the automated phone lines or online chat for something as simple as changing address, proved to be very difficult. Overall it is a steady bank but there’s definitely room for improvement. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023
