At Smart Money People, we use what customers like you are saying about their financial products to help drive change. It can be very frustrating when you're having a problem with your building society, that's why we've created public complaints. Whether it's your main current account, or your savings, sometimes the only solution is to escalate your concerns to a formal complaint. That's where our public complaints come in - we're trying to better the way that building societies deal with complaints.

How do I make a Nationwide complaint?

Submitted a claim in April 2020 and it is now January 2021 and they are still undecided over accepting that I was covered when my holiday had to be cancelled when the Danish government banned all foreign nationals from entering Denmark due to the Corona pandemic. I get conflicting views as to wether my claim is valid and have had to keep chasing them for a firm decision before I involve the ombudsman . UK insurance who underwrite these policies are a disgrace and Nationwide should stop using them .

Nationwide credit card are the worst company I have ever dealt with. They have charged me over £170 for a balance transfer that they NEVER made for me and after 1.5 years of going back and forth with a million different departments they still refuse to give me a refund. I have made several complaints to them, but none of my complaints have been given a FINAL RESPONSE! When I spoke to the financial ombudsman, they advised me that NATIONWIDE ARE LEGALLY OBLIGED TO SEND ME A FINAL RESPONSE LETTER. Yet they refuse. Every time I call them they tell me that the case has been closed without even providing me with a final response letter. What a joke of a building society! I wish I never left Santander! I do not recommend Nationwide to anyone! ESPECIALLY NATIONWIDE CREDIT CARD. CROOKS!

Blocking a vulnerable 77 year old man from his money

Your not helping a clinically vulnerable 77 year old member of yours by blocking his account so he cannot use his debit card and making him come to the branch in person to take out cash even though he is at high Risk of Covid 19. SHAME ON YOU NATIONWIDE

Honestly cant believe how hard it is to…
Honestly cant believe how hard it is to remove a name from a joint account. Ive spent an hour on hold, been hung up on, logged a complaint and sill got nowhere. Poor Poor customer service, no one seems to resolve the problem.

Closing all accounts and will not be using them again!!@!!@!@!@!!!@!@@

I've been a long term customer of Nationwide home insurance +10 years, but last 2 renewals noticed the price creeping up significantly, I've only got a 2 bed house no garage or outbuildings but they were quoting £400 per annum. After looking into it further I noticed as an existing NW customer of other products I was entitled to 25% discount. When I enquired about this discount I was informed I didn't quality as I didn't take out a fresh quote and I had a 'different' type of policy. What bull, well on the basis that I don't matter as a long term customer I've cancelled the policy and spent my money elsewhere on an equivalent good quality policy for £180, I wish I'd done this a couple of years ago but lesson learnt now each time I renew anything.

Nationwide/LSG phone insurance

I would like to make a complaint about the service I have been getting from your insurance provider LSG.
I have been assaulted in the morning of Tuesday 20/10/2020 and the first thing I did was to call the line to open a claim for the stolen phone (as this is one of the products I have with my flexplus nationwide account).
The gentleman I spoke to on the phone started the claim for me in that same morning and email me a form and told me that I have to fill in that form and send back by post.
I did exactly what he asked me to do and today on 23/10/2020 I have received an email that asked to contact LSG and when I called they told me that I sent the wrong form and that I have to fill in a new form and send back again
Why was I sent the wrong form from LSG team in the first place? Now the weekend is around the corner and this will delay by claim process by a week!
What kind of service is this?!? And what sort of untrained people are working for LSG/Nationwide?!?
This is all very upsetting, the horrible experience I lived was bad enough and now I will not have phone for days because of someone else's error...
Disappointed would be an understatement on how I am feeling right now.
