At Smart Money People, we've been using the power of reviews from consumers like you since 2014 to help change and improve financial services. It can be extremely frustrating, and often expensive when things go wrong as a Santander customer - whether it's about your main bank account, savings, mortgages, or any other Santander financial product, you want resolution, and quickly. If they've disappointed you, sometimes it feels like the only way to move forward is to escalate your dissatisfaction with a company in the form of a complaint. That's why we want to improve the way that companies deal with complaints from customers.

Dont waste your time even with the free 12months banking

Santander business banking has to be the worst bank to deal. I have a business in colwyn bay. I use the Santander bank in colwyn bay. The reason I signed up to be truely honest is the free banking period, it sounded get and easy but....... please don't waste your time, you cant use the counter service if your a business account yes that's right you have to pay a set monthly fee and 50p of every £100 after a certain amount. So after you pay the fees you dont get the privilege of using the in store desk, instead they tell you to use the cash machine if you need anything and to top in off the cash machines in Santander banks are awful, if you try put money into the machine please give yourself 20minutes of messing around feeding your notes into the machine that it keeps spitting out, oh and dont expect the staff to help you if these more than 2 people in the bank as theres only 2 counters 1 of which is usually busy with a member of staff doing something more important so naturally a queue starts forming. I usually time myself when I go in just to try make myself laugh instead of getting pis*** off at how much of a joke it is in there. The greatest thing is that even if nobody is in the bank they still wont help you as your a paying business account holder... sorry I keep saying that but it just amazes me that you can pay for an account and not get the customer service as you would if you just had a regular best account. If the cash machines was a little better the bank may just get a 2 star from me but its shocking. Most businesses have to out large amounts of cash in but when it only accepts 50 notes at a time so 500 quid your there for some time if your putting £3000 in and that's if you catch the machine on a good day. Oh but having said that most the staff there are quick to tell you that instead of putting a large amount in at once why not put 500 in every couple of days.... I also have another business which I run through natwest which are amazing. The machines are great and if your putting large money in then you simply put your money in a bag post it through a hole and boom just like magic it's in, but the best bit is that you can simply go to the desk and speak to a friendly staff member to deal with any problems. Moral of the story is I HATE Santander do not use it unless you want to pull all your hair out and die of old age waiting.

Don't waste your time - Stay away!!

Absolutely RUBBISH service, I have been with the bank for few years but i only started using them as a primary bank recently and as long as you don't have to contact them it woks fine.

However, recenly I used their app and tried to make a payment to a friend in emergency and it confirmed that it went OK, but i only found out after two days from my friend that the payment wasn't received. This happened 2 times in a row so can't be an isolated one off incident.

Santanders customer service, fraud team all gave contradicting reasons why the transactions didnt go through.

I asked my other friends and they said the same thing that the bank is not at all reliable when you have to make emergency payments via their site or apps and their call centrea are not 24/7.

Don't trust the customer service they say something on the phone and something else comes by post when you raise a complain.

Their call centres are also not 24/7; as you would expect for someone who has a premium 123 current account where u pay a monyhly feee.

Don't waste your time - Stay away and bank with other reputable high street banks!!

Waste of time !

Santander customer, no mortgage on my home, with Experian rating of 999, £8k in saving and they declined my loan app, WTF!!!!! took out an AA car loan for £22.5k, process was painless, less info required and money in my account in 2 days

Lie ,poor communication, poor service

Shocking service . Applied for a loan . No credit issues . Said it will take 2 days however ended up taking 8 days and not one big of communication to notify me of the delay. Would never recommend and would suggest use another company

So I wanted to open a business bank account at Santander and they asked me to provide my personal account bank statement as a confirmation of my address. And business department of Santander didn't accept a personal bank account statement from Santander, because 'it is not a legitimate proof of address'! Is this a f***ing joke!!?? Next day I went to Lloyds and opened a business bank account with no issues there. Customer service is just beyond terrible at Santander, I'm switching to Lloyds as soon as I can.
