Review of the Nationwide, FlexAccount:

Moral but largely ineffective

5
Nationwide have again sent out notification that selected customers will be receiving £100. This is an interesting way for a building society to reward customers, especially as the interest rates are very low to non-existent. Nationwide is trustworthy to my mind, but probably not the right choice for anyone trying to be savvy about money. Their lack of branches near me (in a busy urban area) is a big failing sadly. Overdraft facilities

I had an account with Nationwide with a £1000 overdraft. I also had a credit card. I occassionally used my overdraft but never extensively. £300 at most. They reduced my overdraft to £850. For the next 6 months; i never used my overdraft and they the reducted it again to £250. I feel they should give the customer a choice rather then just reducing the overdraft. Or at lease give a reason as to why. I like to have an overdraft as a safety net but I never used it. So that is why i swtiched banks. Reviewed on: 9th August 2023

Don't bank with Nationwide as they treat fraud victims as suspects, despite the Police and the Fraud Bureau saying that your a victim Reviewed on: 17th July 2023

Appalling customer service

1
Received a letter from nationwide asking me to get in touch. Rang the number on the letter, phone was answered after 10 minutes, gave the letter reference and was put back on hold for a further 37 minutes. A total of 47 minutes just to confirm a standing order. Absolutely appalling service. Reviewed on: 17th July 2023

Nobody's perfect, but this came close

I opened an account with Nationwide as they offered a cash incentive to switch my current account. But I was very impressed with their app in particular, it's very easy to use and quick to set up. I manage all of my accounts online, and have used several banks over the past few years- this one is one of the two best (Chase being the other). Although I have now switched to Lloyds (yep, they offered £150 to switch to them) they are nowhere near as good, so I'll be heading back to Nationwide next month. Reviewed on: 14th July 2023

Hugely unfair "fairer share" scheme - big let down for longterm loyal customers

1
Despite being with Nationwide for quite literally decades, and having many accounts with them for myself and my children, they refused to see me as a loyal customer for their fairer share scheme. They didn't even have any discretion through the complaints process as no-one seems to have any authority to overturn a decision. Massively dissappointed and am looking into other options for my accounts as a result. Reviewed on: 8th July 2023

Unfair fair scheme

1
As so many other customers have also experienced, the Nationwide's Fair Share scheme is anything but. A loyal customer for over 15 years, who used the current account as their main bank account and saved many thousands of pounds in multiple savings accounts, I am inexplicably excluded from the Fair Share scheme. I have written to complain and they have responded by confirming I do not count as a loyal customer - so I am leaving immediately. A massive own-goal from an organisation I used to like. They have left me feeling furious and totally confused as to why they have launched this scheme in this way. Madness. Reviewed on: 17th June 2023

Fairer share scheme is a joke

1
Been with Nationwide for 35+ years - had every product under the sun and still do. Did I qualify for the fairer share scheme? No, but my 18 year old son (who I persuaded to take their account) will. It's such a bad idea. Fools. Reviewed on: 14th June 2023

Best bank

Nationwide is the best bank I've had the pleasure of banking with. Not only is your money safe, they also give back to customers which I've never had with others. Reviewed on: 7th June 2023
