Excellent - has paid out claims

Have had this account for 6-7 years now and in that time been unfortunate enough to need to claim for replacement mobile phone (stolen), medical expenses in Brazil whilst travelling (£1-2k) and a skiing accident (several £k including repatriating me to the UK flights transfers etc all covered). Once all proof/documentation provided everything was paid out and sorted v efficiently on each occasion. Have also used breakdown cover at home when car battery went flat + very easy. Excellent breakdown service

In the last 5 years I have broken down three time and on each occasion Nationwide's service was excellent. Three days ago my vehicle's diesel pipes broke and all fuel ran out. They came within an hour, dropped the car off to my yard and myself round the corner to home. They collected when arranged, phoned to advise me of exact times, and were helpful and courteous. I even had a hire car delivered on a bank holiday Monday to get me out of trouble. I complain about everything usually but this service was brilliant. Nationwide flex account insurance hopeless

what a terrible experience in dealing with their claims department. constantly asking for the same documentation. lack transparency, no communication and in our case charging an excess fee for our son under 18 but not covered on the claim. stuck an excess fee per person and did not explain that a separate claim would be required and of course to apply another excess. taken over 12 months to deal with my claim. Very unprofessional and shambolic setup. We did take travel insurance with another insurance company before our booking accommodation, way before COVID 19 and typical of Insurance let us down. Excellent all round banking products

Nationwide flex-plus account with visa debit card does everything I need. Text messages re my unusual /larger payments very reassuring. Flex plus insurance cover adds value. Laptop sign-in is cumbersome so use ipad app with fingerprint recognition. Reviewed on: 20th March 2021

Flex Plus Travel Insurance - seems fine unless you actually need to use it

I’ve been a Nationwide Customer for 20 years and been paying for a Flex Plus Account with travel insurance for ~10 years. Thankfully I’ve never had to use it. Until COVID-19 that is. Nationwide Insurance have made an absolute ordeal out of trying to claim any money back, requesting document after document, reducing the amount I could claim at every turn until I eventually made my peace with getting around £300 back (out of an original £2000 outlay). Now it seems after more wriggling and document requesting, I’m not even getting that. Disgusted with the way I’ve been treated, to say the least. Reviewed on: 10th March 2021
