Appalling. In one word....AVOID!!! (Cheaper but not worth it)

I wouldn't even know where to start: - Customer service is appalling, and non-existent - If they say they'll call you back, it means when pigs fly - They use a whole raft of sub-contractors for repairs and they don't attempt to coordinate ANY work - They've cost me a LOT of money in poor service Reviewed on: 5th October 2016

Don't bother

Useless and unhelpful as an innocent party whose car was parked and run into by a drink driver I found octagon my insurer nothing short of useless and caused me stress and loss of a days work due to their complete lack of assistance . I was passed from one person to another and left without a courtesy car or vehicle inspection for 48 hours . Don't use them Reviewed on: 20th December 2016

Stay well away!

I've been with them for almost 6 yrs. All was good until I had an accident recently which was my fault admittedly! They immediately put a hold on my claim saying it's because I didn't tell them of a change in jobs!!! I don't & have never used my car for work as it's near & easier to walk plus I drive company cars so don't need myown for this purpose! The mealage proves this! 2 yrs old & only 7000 miles!!!!! They have been happy to take my money for yrs but not so happy to pay the damages recently caused! I have contacted the financial ombudsman who agree with me and are happy to fight my corner if octagon refuse to pay! Yes if my vehicle was used for commuting to & from work they'd need to know of a job change! But the mere fact it is not should not effect my insurance! Reviewed on: 3rd November 2016

The worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

Where to begin... first of all they charged me £170 just to change my address when I moved house. Then I had a fraudulent insurance claim against me. I pay Octagon £600 to represent and protect me, I had to arrange an engineer to come out and confirm I hadn't been in an accident myself, even then they couldn't close the claim until the third party had responded - they give them an SLA of a year to respond and if it hasn't closed down on my account by the time my insurance renewal is due, I will lose all my no claims even though I've done nothing wrong. Then someone scuffed my car and damaged it. Rang octagon who told me not to worry and that they will contact the other persons insurer to deal with it, was assured it will be claimed from their insurance not mine. So I left them to deal with it. An hour later I get a phone call about my £600 excess I have to pay and my claim. Turns out they've accidentally opened the claim on my policy, ask to speak to a manager who tells me unless I'm willing to pay £600 and have a claim against my policy, they can't help me. Seriously avoid this company. They may be the cheapest on the comparison site, but they're the cheapest for a reason. You get what you pay for and if anything ever did happen to you, you'll wish you opted for a better company, trust me. They've stressed me out the the point of actually getting ill. Horrible company. Customer Service Was Poor

After moving to high risk car insurance area in Birmingham, Octagon were the cheapest I could find for my car insurance however I was apprehensive as I had never heard of them before and found a few horror stories from other customers when looking at reviews of them on the Internet however as they were the cheapest and I could not afford any more, I went with them. The only bad thing I can really say about them as fortunately I did not have to have much dealings with them was the customer service. Each time you speak to them over the phone, you just get the feeling that you are an inconvenience them and I just did not feel like a valued customer. Reviewed on: 26th September 2016

I had an incident a year back. It is still ongoing however the third party has now taken the case to high court. Octagon insurance have been dealing with the claim from the third party and are keeping me entirely informed of changes/ dates which i need to know about. Also their legal team is extremely good at making me understand the jargon used in many of the letters from the solicitors. Reviewed on: 26th September 2016
