Review of the Post Office, Travel Insurance:

Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a net...

1
Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a nettle with you at least when you touch it you will know you have been stung. Mere criminals maskarading as legitimate traders. We all know insurance is a con in most cases, not worth the paper it's written on but never thought such a recognised brand could act so low. Living in a rural area with no public transport or contactable taxi service, our own vehicle our lifeline about to set out 04:15 for flight 07:15 discovering our battery was flat and rushed around for an alternative, try that in a rural area 5am. Long story short missed my flight and paid a rescue fee to Easyjet next available flight, 3 days later obviously missing that period of my holiday also. Having this misfortune remembering my Post Office insurance I saw a very dim light at the end of the tunnel, which was soon extinguished when I reached out to "Post Office" claims call handlers. Twice relaying my predicament they hung up, all stuck in some sweat shop in India, had loose understanding of the English language and even less in the use of the language. Then questioned like a criminal as if I intensionally missed my flight, loosing three days of my holiday!!. Luckily I've had the misfortune of coming across such charlatans before and well versed in the services of the Financial Ombudsman, which I can assure the Post Office is where they are going to be overhauled. Refund for travel insurance

1
Post office wrote to me stating that I had contacted them for refund in August 2020. This was not the case and the post office agent confirmed this was true. This date is pivotal in the calculation of the refund. Despite them admitting this date was not correct they refused to give me a meaningful refund and would only calculate it based on August 2020. Compete farce! Reviewed on: 11th November 2020

Post Office Travel Insurance

I used Post Office Travel Insurance for a trip in April 2020 which was cancelled due to Covid 19. The company they use Intana has failed to respond or payout in 5 months. They are shockingly bad do not use their travel insurance Reviewed on: 4th September 2020

Worst Travel Insurance Cover ever

1
Worst Travel Insurance Cover ever - DO NOT BUY. Paid for the top level Premium Plus travel insurance cover, and added extra pandemic insurance. Holiday accomodation cancelled by owners due to Covid-19 reasons thereby making our booked flights useless. This is termed a 'consequential loss' according to our legal advisers. Airline not liable for refund as outward flight went ahead to Spain as normal in late July 2020 albeit with us not onboard. Post Office claim being handled by an insurance company for them called INTANA, who have been dreadful so far. Repeatedly quoting EU261 regulation to us and saying airline should refund us not them, both us and our legal adviser can see this is clearly not the case when you read this regulation and indeed the airline have refused to refund already. Formal complaint submitted to INTANA and was not handled by them as a complaint! Response was to quote EU261 back to us again and to add a new exclusion reason of "We Do Not Cover; o) prohibitive regulations by the government of any country, or delay or amendment of the booked Trip due to government action;" Neither us or our legal adviser can see how this exclusion applies to our case as the flight went ahead without any such change or regulation. The Post office insurers in the form of INTANA appear to be trying every means to try to avoid settling our legitimate claim. Have asked again for our claim to be treated as a complaint and reviewed by a senior manager, awaiting response. If unsatisfactory again intend taking this matter to the insurance Ombudsmen, MP and TV media, as so unhappy with their reponses and poor customer service. Others consumers need to know they are wasting their money buying Travel Insurance from the Post Office as it isn't worth the paper it is written on. Reviewed on: 14th August 2020

Very poor service

1
Terrible customer service. They make it very hard to contact them (especially during the Covid-19 pandemic). I had to cancel my holiday as I have an autoimmune disease and am at higher risk. When I finally managed to get through to a human being, they refused to refund me. I would not recommend the Post Office as a travel insurance provider. They quite obviously value profit ahead of customer service. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2020

Coronavirus

I was due to travel to Italy this weekend Friday 13 March 2020, but the FCO have said only but essential travel due to Coronavirus, This was a family trip and we are all covered by different travel insurance policies Barclays, Virgin Money and the Post Office. We were obviously disappointed but started the process with our claims Barclays and Virgin dealt with this in efficient manner claim forms sent within minutes. The Post Office however took a different stance they will not cover you I unless you added on disruption to travel whilst purchasing. They are only one of a very few insurers who will NOT cover you . Your policy won’t cover you now if you travel and they won’t pay out because you can ‘t travel does not seem fair! The Post Office is a long standing institution and you would have thought you would have been safe in their hands - NO. Please be wary of purchasing a policy and carefully read the small print. Very disappointed in the customer Service team very dismissive and not willing to listen and not wiling to refer me to a Manager. I suggest you think very carefully before purchasing a policy with the Post Office, Reviewed on: 11th March 2020

Excellent service from emergency medical team!

I am so grateful for the fantastic support my daughter had when she had a life saving operation for a burst appendix in Portugal. Staff were caring, reassuring and very efficient organising flights and accomodation to enable me to be with her. The support continued whilst there and everything was done to make us comfortable and return us home safely. Thank you! Reviewed on: 19th December 2019

Cheap and comprehensive cover

Going to America with my family this year looked like it was getting compilated and costly with insurance quotes hat were both expensive and confusing. The post office gave clear advice and covered us at a fraction of the cost others had quoted. I have asthma and this didn't affect the cost massively. I would recommend to anyone.
