I have had a Barclays basic account for over 20 years. Over £3000 is paid in every month and there are a number of direct debits on the account. The account is conducted properly. The criteria to upgrade to a current account are all easily met. Yet I am not allowed to do so because in the dim and distant past i missed two payments on my Barclaycard account. Despite many requests to reconsider they refuse to change this. If I was a criminal I would get out of jail, but once Barclays have judged you that's it.
