They say loyalty doesn’t pay, well that’s certainly my experience with Saga. I have been with them for 4 years and seen a steady increase in premiums on each annual renewal, but this year it was ridiculous. I have had no claims and this year the cost has jumped from £845 to a whopping £1284. I asked them to check if there had been an error with the underwriter who confirmed this was the new premium. I got competitive quotes from Direct Line, Privilage, John Lewis and NFU, and amazingly the highest quote was £721. I went with NFU as their excess was the lowest and because they’ve won the top spot in Auto express for 3 years at a cost of £654 including breakdown cover. I have a number of financial products with Saga, all of which I’m withdrawing due to this experience.
