When I opened my HSBC account "online," I had to visit the branch 4 separate times, spend over two hours on the phone to them, and register three times for online banking. I was told one thing in branch, and another different thing on the phone.

Due to their frustrating lack of cohesion I had to spend over an hour on the phone to customer services whilst stood in the branch - going back and forth between the counter and the call centre to try and resolve the issue with my application.

It took over two weeks.

Then to get into their app took even longer - I had to wait for letters in the post, get in touch with customer services again, enter long winded usernames, passwords, passkeys each time....

And then when I got a new phone I needed to wait for another letter in the post before being able to access my money. They have what they call a "secure key" system, where you need to generate a code through their app in order to make a transaction through their website. Which is fine until you misplace your phone...

Their website is bad enough, but their app is awful - most of the time the app just redirects you to the website.

And then when I lost my phone I needed to wait for another letter in the post.

Monzo, however, was a breeze - everything was done through their app, it took virtually no time at all. Logging in to their app is incredibly easy - no passwords or customer numbers to remember. Customer service is helpful, polite, quick to respond, and effective.

Being able to see all of my accounts and balances in one place is essential - rather than having to log into 3 banks and 5 credit cards I can just log in to one place to see an overview of them all.
The planning and budgeting features help me keep everything under control. and see if I'm spending too much, and when in the future I'll be able to afford something.
And the ability to tag and search through my transactions makes household split finances easy.
What used to take a couple of hours a week now takes a couple of minutes a month.
