I have recently experienced the worst experience with HSBC Bank and can now officially say I believe customers who have written such reviews about the appalling customer service. My story to get to the point and to keep it brief is the following:
1. I applied for a loan, I then was referred to an underwriter called Rene - she made it clear they are the decision-makers of the loan. She then decided to proceed with my application and asked me to hold, where I was left on for more than 3 hours! I then was told based on my credit report they would not be able to lend. However, the story shocks me even further when I asked her what exactly has appeared considering I know from my current score being over 900 my Experian report. She then states the report is from Transunion - who I never heard of until I went online and downloaded a report. I then came to find that all my data was incorrect and mixed in with my sisters who does not live with me and holds a different surname which was shocking - they leaked all my sisters finances to me. Then when disputed with HSBC they stated they will not override the decision - took it to complaints which was another disgusting service whereby you are dealing with incompetent people in Sheffield call Centre! who are literally robotic in their responses. I will now be getting my lawyer involved and have had discussions with the ICO as this was a clear data breach and due to HSBC's negligence has not been resolved.
