Moving from a legacy bank was the best financial decision I ever made

4
I opened a current account with Sterling out of curiosity, with no intention of doing a full switch. Once I had experimented a bit I realised the only thing holding me back from switching was fear of the unknown. Now I've switched from a legacy bank to Starling, I'd never switch back. I visited my old legacy bank today to close an old account I found on a credit report. Their customer service was excellent and I walked away really happy. It made me question what it was about new app only banks that I preferred. Starling has been slowly adding a mixture of old and new banking features. I think I prefer taking a risk and trying something new. Compared to previous generations, I don't want just reliability from my bank. I want to see it constantly try new things and experiment with its service model. The visit to the bank today left me wondering if there is still some place for face to face banking in the future. For now, Starling is exciting and is delivering on its promises. The moment it stops innovating is the moment it becomes a legacy bank and I'll be looking for the the next innovator. Keep it up Starling team. Reviewed on: 6th November 2018

I love this new bank

New banks come across quite rarely, and one that innovates like Starling is even rarer. Starling is an app only bank, and their only product at present is a current account. By being app only, they are able to focus on creating new features. For example, instead of creating a savings account product, they are reinventing the savings account product by creating a 'goals' feature as part of the current account. So rather than move money into my savings account each month, the money remains in the current account but is allocated against my particular savings goals. I can still access the 'goal funds', but am given a warning before I access that money. Reviewed on: 24th June 2017
