We applied for a mortgage last year and had very choices as my husband had been resident in the UK for less than 2 years. Halifax was one of the few banks that were open to us and were able to obtain the mortgage and buy our first home with a 5% downpayment, they also had a 2,000 cashback offer at the time which was great to pay the fees. We're very happy to be on the property ladder and have had a good experience getting our mortgage with Halifax.
