Ethical Bond is a great idea - if you want to keep your money safe and ethical and earn interest on top

I have locked my money for one year with Triodos and will accumulate some good interest on the capital. Since I had the amount to spare, I thought it's good to keep it with the people who aren't going to invest it in alcohol, tobacco, fossil fuels, or the arms trade. The interest rate is quite decent though you can probably get a better one so it comes down to ethics. For me it was a no-brainer. Reviewed on: 13th April 2021

Make the world great again

It's amazing that Triodos enables you to manage your money in an ethical way. They really are the champs when it comes to this and the Ethical ISA is a good example. I used to hold an ISA with a high street bank that paid very little interest in comparison. After transferring in from them, not only I get a very good interest rate but I know my money is not involved in questionable practices. Probably the only slight drawback is the lack of physical banking in London but on the upside, they are improving internet banking which is now in line with the smartphone app so for anyone considering Triodos Ethical ISA - I'm just saying go for it. Good customer support but poor on ethics and investments drag it all down

Barclays offers very low-interest rates on all its accounts despite high profits. They have a quick and good smartphone app which is a good thing but it's what you'd expect. The most pressing issue for me is their climate pledge and investment in fossil fuels. I don't like the fact that my money is with an unethical company that in a way greenwashes its actions with public relations stunts. I never had any issues with the bank but the low ambition and lack of ethical products along with their investment record were sufficient for me to begin moving my money. It's sad but if we don't force banks to re-think and change, they will do very little. Reviewed on: 4th March 2021

David tackling Goliath(s)

Triodos Bank is wonderful, I like the fact that they care about the future of our planet and support smaller businesses. It's not just saying that it commits to good acts but actually acts which is not so common these days. Initially, I set up an account with them at the start of the year but had to cancel as I was meant to be moving abroad for a new job. Their customer service was super professional and advised me of the procedure to close - very easy. People were super friendly in calls and emails and my query was resolved with a simple 5-minute call and an email follow-up. I have just re-joined them last month and in the process of moving my money. As there is no physical branches, I am probably going to have to open another account with a building society "just in case" but intend to use Triodos as the main means of banking! Slight suggestion would be to focus on improving the app and online banking, just making it a little bit more user-friendly and if a payment is made, sometimes it takes a little bit longer for the money to leave the account but you can't have it all :) I still love it and hope things will be going very smooth in the future. Thank you Triodos for standing up to the giants and giving us a great alternative! Reviewed on: 2nd March 2021
