Non UK call centres are difficult to communicate with

I wanted to see what my balance way on my account as the online website was down. I called happily called telephone banking only to speak to an advisor who asked me to spell my name 4 times and then said "oh, I don't understand what you are trying to tell me, may I call you Andy (my name is Audrey by the way), after almost 17 minutes of this, I said "not to worry, I'll call back later" to which the advisor replied, "but Andy, I just need your name..." at which point I gave up and was left extremely frustrated all day. I did, however, have the complete opposite experience, after summoning my strength again and calling again a few days later with a lovely advisor who spoke English very well and wasn't at all robotic in her questions, we even had a bit of a giggle. All in all, Barclay's customer service is definitely hit and miss and I do dread calling. Reviewed on: 19th February 2016
