Leaving my dog to die after telling me I *was* insured

1
My dog had an insurance certificate from petplan so when she had an accident whilst out in the woods treatment was started. However there was a potential problem with the cover so I phoned to check this and was categorically told that there was no problem. Treatment continued but there were complications and her life was at risk. Petplan, however, had already cancelled my policy before they told me it was definitely valid despite the potential problem. They have refused to budge despite the problem being nothing to do with me neither did I have the chance to verify the details so I couldn't have spotted the problem myself. I can't afford the referral she needs. Her course of treatment would have been different without insurance. Thosé other options are no longer doable. Petplan will not help in any way and she's on a wing and a prayer. She might well at any time develop a punctured lung and die or need to be euthanased. The foreign body has moved and surgery is high risk, too. The scan she needs is a few hundred quid but there's no-one prepared to stick their neck out and accept that *they told me* she *was* insured which changed the choice thus course of her treatment. This is on the back of me having just lost my old collie who had been insured with them for 12 years. I'm telling the tale - you judge for yourselves. And pray with me that little Kerry makes it, please, as I have limited financial means - it's down to luck. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2016
