Simplifying the mortgage process

After booking in a phone meeting, we were talked through the mortgage we were after. We had already bought a mortgage with Nationwide for shared ownership, so were staircasing for the rest of the flat. This made it more complicated than a usual mortgage. The chap we spoke to spent quite a bit of time working out which mortgage would work for us, based on matching the time we had left on the old mortgage. He gave us two options and explained both, giving us time to make up our minds. We bank with Nationwide already so were able to take out a good mortgage, the whole process was handled well and was the speediest part of the whole mortgage process, waiting on solicitors and our housing association the longest. This is my first pension and although it was set up via my employer, my experience with Standard Life has been a positive one. Any questions I have had have been dealt with efficiently and their website is very easy to use, which allows me to top up my pension or use their calculators to work out how much I need to be saving.
