I took out pet insurance for my dog with animal friends when he was around 2 years old. I didn't make any claims for a for the first 2 years but then he needed some treatment for diarrhoea. The claim was quick and easy to make and the pay out was done speedily straight to my vets. Then several years later he fell ill again and I had not realised that now that he was over 8 i had to pay 35% of any claim. Again the pay was quick but it did put me off the company and my advice would be to read the small print carefully
