I took out Home Insurance specifically for an unoccupied property. The policy clearly states the property is unoccupied but when I needed to claim, the insurance company said they didn't insure unoccupied properties despite stating I had avised them of this on the policy! I can't believe they can get away with misselling like this. Also, make sure you read S004 - restricted Perils on the last page as it is likely this nulifies anything already stated in the policy. I was made to pay £39.92 to cancel the policy they said they wouldn't pay out on otherwise it would effect my credit rating and any future insurance I took out!! Very shabby, best stay well away from Sainsbury's Bank and Prestege Underwritting Services.
