Life insurance policy

I took out this policy many years ago, paying less than £2 a month. I think, in the event of a payout, it would not be a great amount as it seems to be a fixed rate -£10,000, which was a lot years ago when I took out the policy, but not worth so much today. Reviewed on: 9th June 2019

Counterless branch

We have banked with Barclays for 40 years and now very disappointed that the Rugby branch is self service. You have to pay cheques in yourself using a laptop. A couple of years ago, the atm machine inside Barclays didn't pay out but gave me a receipt as if I had the money. The staff made me phone up Barclays to sort this out, I was eventually refunded Reviewed on: 13th January 2019

Checking my credit history

I paid to join Experian after somebody attempted to defraud me. Someone had taken out a credit card using my name and address, presumably they hoped to intercept the card when it was issued. The credit company will actually lend money in advance of the new client receiving the card in the post. Someone at the credit company wrote me a letter to ask if it was me who had requested a new credit card account. This is how I came to use Experian, where you can access information as to who has made credit checks against your name, alerting you to possible fraudulent activity. I paid Experian membership for about a year and was able to check my details, which was very reassuring. I seem to remember that cancelling my subscription wasn't straightforward and took me a while to cancel successfully. Reviewed on: 10th June 2018

Home Contents and buildings combined

We took out cover with the Co-op after being sent an incentive to get £50 of food vouchers when taking out insurance. We gained the food vouchers and saved an additional £150 on the insurance premium. Everything was very straightforward and they were pleasant to do business with. Reviewed on: 25th September 2016
