Great way to get started with investing

4
Moneybox's rounds up each purchase you make to the nearest pound, and invests that money. The main product is a Stocks and Shares ISA, but you can also put it into a general investment account or Lifetime ISA. With three plans - risk-averse, standard or high-risk - it's a great way for investing beginners to get started, and the nature of the investment - rounding up card purchases - means your money accumulates without any real effort on your part. The ease of connecting to your bank varies depending on who you're with. At first, I connected to a Barclays current account, which was a bit laborious, but then switched my current account to Starling Bank, which connected instantly. The Moneybox team continues to add new features, too, which gives Moneybox extra function and flexibility. The Moneybox+ feature connects you to brands that add money to your S&S ISA when you make a purchase with them. The customer service is also excellent - prompt and friendly, with advisors who are quick to understand the problem and resolve it. The only thing I'd improve - and the only thing that stops it getting five stars - is the app's interface, which was great before a recent redesign. It's now a bit tricky to work out exactly how your S&S ISA has performed recently, when it used to be clear and straightforward. Reviewed on: 13th November 2018

Excellent rate

Great interest rate for an easy access account, and the mobile site design is user-friendly. Could be improved with an app, rather than having to log in to the mobile site every time. Reviewed on: 31st October 2018

Excellent spending insights and ease-of-use - just needs a few extra features

Starling's app is user-centred in its design and functionality. As well as its effortless interface, the app allows you to categorise spending and segment your money so you know how much you actually have to spend - while the money you shut away earns interest. It could be improved with a few tweaks to some of its features. The spending categories can't be customised, for example. This is a little frustrating, especially when it's a standard feature of most spending apps, such as Money Dashboard. On the rare occasions that the app hasn't made it easy to find the information I've needed, the information on the website is occasionally lacking. The's on-site content about overdrafts, for example, isn't nearly as comprehensive as it needs to be. Reviewed on: 29th October 2018
