I have been a hsbc customer since 1996 and wanted to change the mortgage I had with them. They have ridiculously strict lending policies. We were told we would have to stay on the standard rate at the end of a fixed term deal as we didn't meet affordability criteria. This meant we were actually paying more each month. They offered no help to us whatsoever despite the fact we had never missed a payment. Needless to say we moved our mortgage to another bank and got a great deal.

Absolutely brilliant. Halifax made switching our mortgage to them so easy and painless. I would definitely recommend them.
