Worst customer service ever

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the key replacement service I received yesterday. I trusted RAC to help me with a straightforward issue, but unfortunately, RAC service has left me with a much bigger problem. Prior to the service, my old spare key was working perfectly fine. However, after the technician completed the key replacement, neither the new nor the old key works, and I am now unable to start my car. This is highly frustrating and inconvenient, as I was expecting your service to resolve my issue, not create further problems. To make matters worse, I received an email from you advising me that this situation has nothing to do with RAC and suggesting that I take my car to a mechanic myself. This is entirely unacceptable, as the issue clearly arose from the work done by they key replacement service, making it your responsibility to rectify the situation. Reviewed on: 1st October 2024

RAC HAVE STOLE MY CAR AND THEY WONT TELL ME WHERE IT IS

Before considering employing the services of RAC, I implore you to take a moment to read about my recent ordeal, which has been nothing short of a nightmare. On 20th September 2023, RAC took possession of my vehicle (Registration: WR14 EHJ) and what followed was a bewildering and highly distressing chain of events marked by misinformation, lack of communication, and a terrifying period where my car was essentially lost by the company. Despite being assured by RAC that my vehicle was safely transported to Nissan Garage for a scheduled appointment on the 4th of October, I was informed by the garage that it was never delivered. From that point onwards, the situation spiraled into a chaotic series of events with RAC representatives repeatedly providing conflicting information and outright false assurances. Promised callbacks were not honoured (despite 12 separate calls from my end on the 5th of October), and after being informed that a complaint case was raised, further inquiry exposed that this, too, was a false statement. Now, not only is my vehicle still missing, but my numerous attempts to obtain straightforward answers and resolve the issue have been constantly met with disregard and unfulfilled promises. RAC’s failure to manage this situation effectively and their apparent disinterest in resolving it promptly has caused not just inconvenience but genuine distress. Given the gravity of the situation, where a vehicle is unaccounted for and mismanaged, I find myself compelled to escalate matters further, and I am left questioning the reliability and credibility of RAC. If you're seeking a service that values your property, time, and peace of mind, I must warn you to think twice before opting for RAC, unless you're prepared for a potential rollercoaster of stress and frustration, as I have experienced. The lack of accountability, effective communication, and tangible solutions from RAC has been astounding and certainly not in a positive light. In a situation where we depend on a service to handle our properties with care, transparency, and efficiency, RAC has drastically failed to deliver on all fronts in my experience. Terrible service. No recovery

I was stranded in the hard shoulder on a motorcycle, live lanes of traffic. Told it was too dangerous to recover me and left me stranded in danger. Had to pay for a man in a van to save me. Now they wont refund me or uphold my complaint. Avoid them. Reviewed on: 14th September 2023

Poor poor poor

Can't rate the service any more than 1 star because they didn't give us any. After hours there wasn't even anyone assigned, at which time we were told it would be another few hours before someone came out. Then we'd have to wait for a tow vehicle so after breaking down at 7:30 we were looking at going well into the AM. Reviewed on: 14th September 2023

Not even a RAC car service.

Booked a service on the RAC website. The service I received was very poor with items checked poorly. Other items not checked at all. When I complained to the RAC they stated they subcontract the servicing to Who Can Fix My Car! They claim the servicing was 100% correct. The RAC were very unhelpful (they do after all have my money) How can this be legal? Could not recommend. Reviewed on: 10th September 2023

Disgraceful

Left for 10hrs in a carpark 70miles from home, with my terminally ill partner. Continuously misled about times assistance was coming .Left on hold for 49 minutes, avoid the RAC pay the extra and go to the AA Reviewed on: 9th September 2023

Terrible even the complaints department don't read the whole complaint.

I had a puncture on my m/cycle called the Rac who did send a rescue vehicle in a reasonable time. Unfortunately the puncture could not be repaired. He called for recovery & stayed until the message came through saying recovery was being arranged. 1hr later no news. Phoned again it appeared nothing had been done. Then incoming message saying your then incoming message saying your repairer has reported that you need recovery. Half an hour later still no news. Call again ask for the person on the phone. Do you know anyone that’s got a van funniy eh. Half an hour later still no news. Call again ask for the person on the phone. Do you know anyone that’s got a van funniy one. he then went on to tell me that there was no one in the area with the capabilities of recovering the motorcycle but will try and keep me informed. after 5 1/2 hours I’ve been standing in the roadside in mainly rain. Fortunately a kind soul came to my rescue and went and got his work van and let me put my bike in his garage until I can get it fixed myself, I didn’t cancel the RAC recovery and set about the complaints procedure which appears I can’t even do that properly. The person who dealt with the claim only read the first bit about the rescue vehicle and said in his opinion it was all okay. Exit arrived within the to 2 hours, it was allotted singers actually on the roadside for nearly 6 hours , I think this is very poor. I paid for national recovery top quality service and received a Porsche serviced. You could ever wish to get whatever you do do not join the RAC Reviewed on: 5th September 2023

What customer service

Car broke down 16/08 and through our insurance the breakdown cover is with RAC. They arranged a collection of the vehicle on 17/08 but it failed because the person at the other end didn’t set it up correctly so we waited most of the day only for no one to arrive. We phoned and was advised someone forgot to activate this collected and that they would send another one - this was a third party tow company because of how late it was. They damaged our car putting the tow straps on. The customer service seems to be non existent and they advise an 8 week wait time for complaints to be responded to. My complaint still hasn’t been responded to even though I have tried calling to actually speak to someone I just get told I have to wait. What a joke, I would never consider using the RAC not if this is the ‘customer service’ they are offering. It seems impossible for anyone to actually helps us! Reviewed on: 5th September 2023
