Freetrade priced competitively versus the likes of Interactive Investor and CMC Invest U.K. for SIPPs and ISAs. Enjoying their new 1 month Treasury Bills account direct with the DMO. Value for money Freetrade is worth it, not the absolute cheapest neobroker but there’s no such thing as a free lunch without caveats. Reviewed on: 11th March 2024

Freemium Investing

Pros: low cost investing service via a modern mobile app. Low cost in the sense of zero commissions on U.K. stocks, or an FX fee of spot rate + 0.45% on US/EU stocks. GIA free or ISA £3 per month. SIPP seems like great value for money to consolidate pensions too. Cons: No AutoInvest capability. No web version. Limit orders and a lot of stocks behind a £10 per month subscription paywall (not a big issue but a tad frustrating). Reviewed on: 25th January 2022

DIY Neobroker

Simply opened up the stock markets for me that were previously closed due to high fees and complicated terms. Now in the palm of my hand, I can invest long term in a range of ETFs and stocks. The online community is a buzzing hub too which is great for new investors to influence the direction of the product and confirm/deny their investment knowledge. Reviewed on: 5th November 2019

Microsaving chatbot

Pros: autosaves according to the mood you select. Works very well as a background microsaving app as the money gradually builds up into a handy nest egg. Daily balance updates for your linked account is also something I find useful. They have an investment offering with a few thematic ETFs (but I have yet to use this). No need for a separate app as it works via Facebook messenger. Cons: no interest paid on cash savings which I’m hopeful will change in future. Reviewed on: 18th December 2018

Market leading easy access savings account

5
USP: truly instant access savings account with a market leading rate and none of the caveats of it’s competitors i.e. Marcus has no minimum deposit and no withdrawal restrictions. No mobile app yet but it is in the pipeline. For now, it doesn’t matter because the website is mobile friendly and when saved to the homescreen is effectively an app. Interest is paid monthly and on time. Currently, 1.5% rate in first year, then 1.35% thereafter. Registering for an account is quick. Customer support is via phone call and have had one occasion where I needed to call, which came to a swift resolution. Overall, highly recommend. Reviewed on: 18th December 2018

Investing for everyone

True easy-access investing experience with no caveats: no minimum investment, no minimum trades, no exit fees, no penalties, etc. Just simple pricing structure: free EOD trades or £1 instant trade; free GIA account or £3/month for an ISA account. Currently, I’m invested in MSCI World and another global active ETF. The stock universe is set to grow in January with the inclusion of US stocks. The app is so impressive for the first iteration; they sky is the limit! Also, the community forum is great for beginners & experts. Reviewed on: 14th December 2018
