I am considering leaving Santander because of the drop in interest rates. The credit card cost per year does not match the cash back amount offered. The service in branch is good. The card is accepted everywhere so that's a bonus. I could get more
rewards from a credit card elsewhere.

I was offered this card when I opened a 123 current account, and it has been great. It pays cash back on supermarket purchases, petrol/train travel and department store purchases. I pay for all of these things with this to get the cash back. If I buy anything else not in these categories I pay by debit card. I have a direct debit to pay the card off in full every month. The cash back is paid onto the card. I have saved loads as I drive a lot for work and used to commute by train. You will be credit checked when you apply and it costs £2 a month but this is covered by the cash back on the card.

I have had the Santander 123 account for nearly 2 years now. It is different from other current accounts in that it gets the best interest. After tax I get 2.4% interest on up to £20000. Other savings I have had to put elsewhere to get interest on the excess balance as their isa rate is useless. I also get cash back on direct debits on my phone contract, partners phone contract, electricity and gas, water, and council tax. This is a little extra each month that adds to the balance. You have to pay your salary into it, and have at least 2 direct debits for it to run. The branch is helpful, the online banking app is easy to use and it's just been a good bank to use.
