Best bank in the world, by miles!

5
Monzo have built a product, in fact, a company - which is absolutely top class. Even with the fairly limited scope of the product as it currently stands (primarily just current account), they've made it such a delight to use, that I can't wait till they offer more financial products and services so I can stop using clunky, legacy banks! I've been a customer of all of the competitors (including all of the legacy UK banks, and challengers like Starling, Revolut and even the Dutch Bunq), and while several of those have great experiences now, I still come back to Monzo as my favourite and the one I trust the most to give me accurate, instant information about everything related to my account. I recommend it to everyone in the UK, and have done for years! Reviewed on: 14th April 2021

Best UK current account by far - faster, slicker, more innovative and transparent than everyone else.

Monzo... where to start?! They've consistently raised the bar for every aspect of what a bank should be for me, to a level higher than even the other challenger banks. They first won me over by offering instant, detail-filled notifications about everything which happens on my account (not just payments, but verifications, refunds, declines, fees etc.) - telling me things like the decline I just had was because I entered the wrong CVV! Then, they built more features on top of the platform (e.g. savings pots which you can specify certain direct debits to come out of, etc.). Then they launched overdrafts and loans, both of which I've not used and have found a very smooth user experience with no delays at any stage of the process. I should note, that while my Monzo is my main account for my salary and almost all bills, the card I spend with regularly is my Curve card (which usually spends directly from my Monzo, but gives me unique things which only Curve can do) - Monzo and Curve are my two most loved fintech products. Right from the start, Monzo have been more transparent and communicative as a company than almost any other company I know, even outside of the finance and technology areas! For example, their easy-reading but super-detailed "Making Monzo" blog is a goldmine of interesting insights and technical expertise which shows how incredibly talented their team are, and builds up my trust in them massively as the kind of company I want to deal with. When things go wrong at traditional banks, they keep it quiet at all costs, sweep it under the rug, downplay it and lie about it to stop people worrying. Half of the time, when things go wrong at those banks, you don't even know it! Your expectations are actually so low of what service you receive (e.g. transactions taking days to fully complete, no banking at the weekend or even overnight...), that they actually have quite a lot of time to fix things quietly in the background without telling you. However with Monzo, when things go wrong they immediately tell everyone about it, scramble to fix it, then afterwards write up a super detailed blog post explaining exactly what went wrong (in all the gory technical detail) and what they're doing to make sure it never happens again. Now THAT is what I want from my bank, and in that area of transparency, Monzo are a million miles ahead and leading the pack. I can only hope they are as successful as they deserve to be, and their company culture is around for a long time. <3 Reviewed on: 3rd January 2020

Game changing product - more innovation in fintech than I've seen in years!

I've got accounts with pretty much every UK current account provider, and the vast majority of them are pitiful by modern expectations. The challenger banks buck that trend, so my favourite current account is Monzo. However, if I was asked to rank the card in my wallet I value the most highly, the one I'd never want to leave home without, it's Curve! Curve have built the first truly unique financial product I've used in a long while, and they're positioned differently to all the other challenger banks as they aren't directly competing with the traditional institutions. They just launched a feature I didn't know was even possible, allowing sending money to almost any Credit/Debit card by (ab)using the "refund" mechanism of those cards! I've recommended it very strongly to many people, and believe they deserve to be recognised for their unique innovations in fintech. Reviewed on: 3rd January 2020
