This is a review of a Club Lloyds current account held at the Helston, Cornwall branch. In the branch you get traditional, competent service and you rarely have to wait long. The staff make a real point of being friendly and welcoming and don't take offence when I tell them that I don't want to use the new-fangled machine for paying in cheques and I don't want a financial review and I don't want their home insurance. I'm very happy with the Club Lloyds current account that pays a great interest rate and is accessible via a web-site that hardly ever goes down and I get access to the Club Lloyds monthly saver and they even send me a copy of Runners' World every month!

I'm one of those people that has several current accounts, chasing good offers. The TSB current account is one of the best because it pays 5% interest and I get some cashback when I use their contactless debit card. Their online banking is one of the most straightforward and reliable and once you've opened the current account you can apply for the monthly saver. I can't comment on how they deal with problems as everything has worked swimmingly for me.

I recommend the Penrith Building Society for their savings accounts. Of course, you have to be selective as not all accounts have a good interest rate: in the recent past I've had their Christmas Savers and Regular Saver 300 accounts. It seems like a traditional building society in that the service is good but there is also online access and a secure messaging system where I've always received a friendly and helpful reply within about 24 hours.
