Great at taking the money, poor at giving it back

Opened a help to buy ISA 5 years ago, I am buying a house now. Went to close it to find that is must be done in branch, ok fine. However ALL branches including major city centre ones ONLY open 0930 till 1400. As I work mon-fri, like most people, I can’t do this. Called customer service to be told basically “tough”. Was told I could write a letter to the closing team, you read that correctly write a letter, no phones, no email. The closing team don’t have phones or computers apparently, but was advised they will probably just tell me “tough” too as it MUST be done in branch. I was also offered to have my complaint escalated to the complaints team, which could take 8 weeks which is great when your trying to buy a house and need the money straight away. When I asked why not for example close branch’s on a Wednesday and open on a Saturday was told this was because of COVID 19???? Other banks are open on a Saturday, Barclays for example I said to be told yes but we have chosen not to do that so again “tough”. I now have to take a day off work at the cost of £150 just to access MY money. Quite possibly the worst banking service I have ever experienced, not willing to help in the slightest just kept saying it’s in the terms and conditions even though when I agreed to those terms and conditions the branch’s were open mon-sat 9am till 5pm but again just told basically “tough” I will NEVER bank with Halifax again after this and I STRONGLY advise others to do the same.
