Awful claims process

Twice now I have contacted vitality and ended up paying for a private health service on a payg option as it was faster. The first time I was in excruciating pain with my hips and after my nhs GP ran blood tests and X-rays to tell me everything was normal I contacted vitality as clearly it wasn't. I needed a triage call to advise on which physiotherapist I could see under my policy and the call was scheduled. Only I never received the call and when I contacted customer services was told they'd called and I hadn't answered. Totally not the case as I was sitting phone in hand waiting for the call not to mention no voicemail received from them. So I paid to see a physiotherapist myself. This time I've discovered a lump in my neck so rather than wait 3 weeks to see my nhs GP I paid to see a bupa GP who instantly referred me to a specialist. So I called vitality to see which specialist I was authorised to go to under my policy only to be told I needed to see my GP and fill out a form and then they would assess the claim before making the appointment for me.
