When our car was scratched by a van, Aviva took it away for repairs. Some weeks later I discovered that they'd declared it a write-off and sent it to the scrapyard. Over a period of months I had to spend hours phoning and e-mailing Aviva, their agents and the scrapyard before we got our car back (still not repaired). At least one of the many people I had to deal with admitted they'd screwed up and sent us £150 compensation.
