I am a middle-aged student, doing an MA in novel writing. When I asked for a student account with a free £500 overdraft facility, my bank (the Halifax) immediately agreed and switched my account over on the spot. It was very straightforward and very beneficial. I have already finished the MA but can enjoy the benefits of the student current account for another year.
