Quick, Easy, Convenient

I took out a HSBC loan to fund the purchase of a new car as my other one died. I needed the money fast and wanted a good interest rate. With HSBC I can make over-payments that come of the capital and repay at any time without incurring a charge. The application was quick as I did it all in my local branch by booking an appointment. Very happy with this product. Reviewed on: 6th October 2014

I originally bought my house with the assistance of HSBC giving me a mortgage. the adviser at my local branch was very helpful. I went with a tracker with the intention on fixing it when i thought rates will rise (I need to look into this at some point soon.) I have also taken a Homeowner Loan with HSBC and placed this on a fee free tracker. I did this over the phone and found no issues, although it did take an hour and a half. Going back to the point of fixing the mortgage rate, I think that its great that I can change to a fixed rate over the phone, I can keep the mortgage term the same and fix the rate by phoning up and getting new offer documents sent with the new rate the and only have to pay a booking fee. My only negative is the amount of time it takes the underwriters to make a final decision on an application. It took them 2 weeks which is fair, but given how I bank with them and they can see everything I thought the decision could have been made a bit quicker. The great thing about the tracker that I have is flexibility. No early repayment charges and any over payments come of the capital which in turn reduces the interest. This wont suit everyone but at the moment it certainly suits me Reviewed on: 6th October 2014

Its a credit card from a bank not super but not awful either. The Interest rate is high in my opinion. I do not shop around for free balance transfers deals and have all my financial service products with HSBC which is my downfall. I recently tried adding my wife to the card and it was a nightmare. I was told 4 times her signature did not match what they held on the system. I gave up in the end, I am looking into opening another card with the Post office as it offers a free balance transfer and I can then look to repay the balance as well as enabling myself and my wife to each have a card in case we need it. OK but not for everyone

I took out the HSBC Advance account as it enabled me to get a preferential rate on my mortgage. I also find the customer service slightly better and think calls get answered more quickly then the non paying account i previously had. The benefits the account offers such as Break down cover are OK as they cover both myself and my wife given its a joint account, however we have never used them. If I moved my mortgage to another provider I would be tempted to downgrade the account to a normal account with no fee. Reviewed on: 6th October 2014
