I just had an unpleasant time with my cat and a very large bill. The vet was able to put the claim in via the Animal Friends portal for me, and I received payment within a week. There was one phone call to verify some details but other than that it was very smooth.

It's great being able to see all your transactions immediately and not have to guess about pending ones for a few days like traditional banks, although some do seem to be catching up with that functionality now. The ability to receive pending payments the evening before they clear can be super useful too.

Although some people have had issues with PayPal, from my own experience it has been very convenient to use and products such as 'pay in 3' or '4/6/12 months 0% installments' have allowed me to spread some payments while saving on the interest that a credit card might have charged.
