The most sensible travel money method

4
I got this card (my first and only credit card, I try to avoid them generally) specifically because it has the best rates for spending money abroad. Best of all, there is no charge for withdrawing cash from ATMs overseas- so I only use it when abroad, and pay it off in full each month. Using this saves me loads of money which would have been spent on fees, commissions etc when using my debit card, or bureaux de change. I've had very little reason to contact customer services, but on the one occasion i did, they were helpful and quick to sort things out. I'd recommend this for anyone who spends even a little time oversea, for business or pleasure. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

OK for a year

Was a good price for the first years cover, and pretty good policy, but renewal price was double a lot of other companies Reviewed on: 13th July 2020

Rates are poor compared to before, but feels quite secure

3
The way this is organised feels more secure for you money than other p2p providers, and they offer an isa option. But the rates have been dropping recently, and given the current climate the return doesn't really feel worth the risk anymore Reviewed on: 27th April 2020

Good interest rate for the first year, but drops after a year which is annoying. Also access to good regular saver acount. Customer service is excellent Reviewed on: 21st November 2019

Advance Current Account

It seems much the same as other banks, nothing stands out. There was a decent incentive for switching but nothing really to make you want to stay Reviewed on: 7th November 2017

Joint current account

We have an M & S joint current account that we use for household expenditure, bills etc. They have been pretty easy to deal with, although I find the online baking system is not the most user friendly. But the free vouchers when signing up are very good! Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Virgin money cash ISA

4
I have found Virgin Money to be very efficient and straightforward to deal with. Their interest rates are decent if not amazing, and their online banking set up is probably the easiest that I have used Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Good service but now poor value

3
This account was really good value until recently, and the service has been excellent in all the time i have used it (about 3 years). But now they have cut the interest and hiked the fee, I'm pretty certain I will switch to another account- it seems a bit much to hit you on the interest and fees both at the same time. Great idea, shame about the fee

4
I've had this account for around two years now. The interest rate on it is great, and you get cashback if you use it to pay for your household bills- i.e. Council Tax, energy, telecoms. For anyone with some cash savings the rate beats most savings accounts. I've been pleased with the level of service too. The only drawback is the £2 a month fee, but i've found that the benefits outweigh this. I'd be happy to keep this account for a long time. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015
