Upcoming disaster

1
Was a loyal customer of Post Office Credit card which traded through the Bank of Ireland. Earlier this year I had a serious medical condition arise (heart) whilst abroad in Thailand, which meant an urgent return to UK. Airline (Swiss Air) charged me £1145 just to change the date of my paid for return flight. Post Office refused to reimburse this extortionate amount and did not even contact either the airline of the UK booking agent. They told me bluntly that they had decided not to pursue the matter at any level. David Chan is certainly in for a rough ride. Disgusted at such treatment, I cancelled my credit card. Today received a letter from JAVA welcoming me into their fold!!!!! No email address to contact them by (of course) so won’t even try to phone. Having now read the really awful reviews about JAVA, I am glad I’m away from both seemingly pretty useless companies. Please, everyone, be warned. Reviewed on: 26th November 2020

Corporate greed at its worst

Been a loyal customer for over a decade. Paid every month in full by DD. Booked and paid for return flights UK/Bangkok with card. Flew out on 11th Feb. Fell seriously ill on 17th. Advised to change flight date and return to UK ASAP. Contacted UK agent who demanded an admin fee of £1145 to change the date. Either pay up or stay in Thailand and face the consequences. ‘Blackmail’ at its cleverest, eh? Paid by PO CC and flew home next day. Next full week under strict GP medication and rest. Contacted Post Office CC Customer service. Told to send overview letter and docs to prove Flight change date etc. Did so and asked for the payment to be challenged and refunded. From that moment everything went downhill. Back and forth emails and telephone calls to no avail. Result...Post Office refuse my legitimate claim and threaten to impose more interest and late payment fees. Deal with the Bank of Ireland at your peril. Decency and what is right is not part of their system. By the way, I am 86 years of age and never, ever, owed a penny to anyone in my life. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2020

Could not care less

Been a loyal customer for over a decade. Pay full monthly balance, never failed. Was ‘blackmailed’ into paying £1145.00 when falling ill abroad in February and had to change flight return date in an emergency. Loads of seats on aircraft. Reported full facts to Post Office Credit Card bank in Ireland. No acknowledgement (only the bill) No email contact allowed. Phone lines engaged for hours. When finally connecting, staff totally unhelpful. Refused to ‘block’ the contested £1145.00. Told the full DIRECT DEBIT payment would be taken. Also told (by a person who’s spoken English was abysmal) that she had no way of contacting the claims s department. Remember what the American Airline captain announced to his passengers...”This is your captain-speaking, we are about to land in Ireland, please put you watches back two hundred years.” Reviewed on: 27th March 2020
