Appalling behaviour from a bank... Singed up to a quarterly subscription with a merchant that did not deliver on their promise, this was back in May this year. After 10 days of back and forth with the merchant, I decided to claim a chargeback instead as it was going nowhere. Little did I know then that 6 months later I now have been charged 3 times by the merchant for a total of $900. I was assured by AIB that the merchant had no authorization for my card. After 10 emails, dozens of phone calls with the AIB bank. Finally opened a complaint after 5 months with the bank to get he issue resolved. Received a letter to say complaint had been received and they would be in touch by the 18th of November. Just received a letter from the bank now stating that they were not going to respond to my complaint again and if I still had an issue to take it up with the Ombudsman. $900 down and about 30 hours of back and forth and this is my treatment. I currently have personal banking, business banking and a mortgage with AIB but not for long…. Reviewed on: 26th November 2020
