Avoids nasty shocks from dental or optical bills

I've had the Simplyhealth Cash Plan (at the middle rate) for a few years now and as I have to pay at least some private dental and optician bills every year, I've found it really helpful. It spreads the payment, but also protects against any nasty shocks, because whatever the bill, a set amount will be paid by the cash plan. And if, as happened to me one year, you suddenly need to see a private consultant, it pays for half the consultant fees up to a set amount too. I've always found the claims process simple and the payment pretty swift. Had to phone them with queries a couple of times and found the customer services people pleasant and helpful too. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone with perfect sight and an NHS dentist, but for the rest of us, they're definitely worth looking at. Reviewed on: 18th July 2017
