We are lucky enough to have an HSBC in ours small town, had current account for years and never had an issue. The local staff are very friendly and helpful - always take time to help and advise if they can.
Telephone support is not so good however and feels unconnected to the bank itself - you have to phone a mail line for an appointment at your local bank and made an appointment twice through this and didn't work out either time.
