An excellent local society

Though disappointed when the local Agency closed, it is good to have an excuse to visit Woodbridge to deal with the excellent staff who are always helpful and this includes telephone chats as well. In a competitive market the rates on at least one of the accounts is attractive. Email responses to enquiries are usually dealt with reasonably quickly and helpfully by another office. Good all round account

Despite lockdown restrictions a local branch was extremely helpful in switching our account. Online and app access is excellent and interest rates are much better than many other banks. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2021

Good package at reasonable.

For a reasonable premium, especially older people, there is excellent cover for world wide travel up to 80 and cover for other essentials such as car breakdown and mobile phone cover. Reviewed on: 6th November 2018

Excellent choice

When CapitalOne stopped its annual cashback I found that Asda not only gave cashback but had committed to not reducing the percentage. In addition to a higher rate when using the card in their stores I found their Internet facility very good for checking the balance and record of pending transactions. Reviewed on: 6th February 2017

A wise choice

One of the few credit cards to give cash back and also on a monthly basis. The online facility is good also showing pending transactions in a slightly different colour that is very helpful. Reviewed on: 28th December 2016

Just a warning

I used a Clarity card for my trips abroad twice a year and was very impressed with the exchange rates with no conversion charges. However, I decided to close this account (and cheque account) and instead opted for a card that would give me some Cashback. AFter an unsatisfactory experience (since resolved) I decided to go back to Halifax Clarity and was astounded that I was declined. This is despite paying off any balance in full every time by direct debit and can only assume that the "computer" that dealt with my online application didn't like the fact that I had also applied and been accepted for a rival card! Be careful how you judge.

I applied for credit card and was accepted and then wanted to add my wife. Too much information needed to be sent that she applied in her own name (Online) and was accepted straight away. As for me, while in the USA (having advised them I was going) I received a text message querying 2 amounts in GBP asking if they were mine. As all my transactions had been in US$ and no payee details were supplied I was not prepared to spend 79 pence a minute on phoning and no email facility was available. While there, I downloaded my statement and tried to print it off but is was only gibberish. The same thing happened on my return to the UK and I sent a message to ask if they would send a printed statement (having changed my options online). I subsequently phoned and was informed it would cost me £5.00. To my surprise, a few days later a printed statement was received in the post and no charges have been made. SInce then, I used another printer and was able to obtain a correctly printed document. My initial reaction to my experience was not favourable but after a few days and a little more work I am pleased to admit that some of the problems I encountered were self inflicted and not the fault of the company. I must learn not to be too hasty! Reviewed on: 3rd August 2016
