Lack of branches, digital banking needs improved

Clear attempts to force people onto digital banking to justify closing community branches. This isn't made better by the over-complication of a large amount of online transactions by their requirement of a home card reader, at the customer's expense. This would be easier done in branch but even that is harder than ever. Their products are mildly competitive but still pretty average. Reviewed on: 4th November 2018

Good in-branch care, lack of branches, digital banking needs improved

RBS has had a near constant push for all of its customers to sign up to digital banking as an excuse to close down branches. Despite this, there are many things that RBS makes overly complicated on its online banking such as the need to use your own personal card machine for certain transactions, coming at a cost to the customer. These transactions would be completed easier in branch but with branches constantly closing, this is now more difficult than ever. Although the in-branch care from staff is always exceptional, it feels as though RBS has no shame in hiding the fact that their organisation is run for their own convenience and not that of the consumer. The account overall is fine, what you'd expect from a student current account. The agreed overdraft is competitive and easy and I have had no problems with the account but overall it is a pretty average product. RBS seriously needs to look at its customer care, I have had much more positive experiences elsewhere. Reviewed on: 4th November 2018
