Saving made simple

I had heard about this miraculous 'Chip' app from a few friends but discounted it as a gimmick. My husband is disabled and I am his full time carer so we are not able to save from a salary on from the state benefits we receive. I'm a great believer in budgeting and watching the pennies but even I had a hard time trying to save anything at all. So in the end I gave into my friends and downloaded Chip. It is seriously the best thing since sliced bread..! In less than 6 months I cannot believe how much I have saved. Compared to some people I'm sure it's peanuts but when you live on a very limited income....it's incredible to see what can be done and the peace of mind that a little 'rainy day money' can bring. These guys deserve a medal..! Reviewed on: 7th November 2018

Not remotely interested in customer needs. Driven by profit and greed.

RBS have closed our branch, the main branch in the next village and even taken away their cash machines. As we have no post office, I can only withdraw money from 'cashback'. It's a disgrace...our local shops run out of cash because no-one has access to a cash machine...so they limit the cashback facility to £20. How they are able to legally inflict this on rural customers is beyond belief. Reviewed on: 9th January 2018

If you're not tech savvy....forget it..!

RBS has closed the branch in my village, counting it's pennies I hear. I'm now reduced to either online banking, telephone banking or some basic transactions at the Post Office. What happens when my laptop plays up and I can't do online..! They won't confirm that they'll keep the ATM going in the village. I'm supposed to use cashback if they take it away. With regard to telephone banking...if it's not on their screen in front of them, you can't do it. Staff are very polite...but that doesn't mean you get good customer service. I didn't create the mess that RBS is in...but apparently I've got to be part of fixing it..! They send a mobile bank for half an hour once a week....seriously guys, are you kidding...! I'm a carer to my seriously disabled husband and we don't have a large enough income to pick and choose our bank otherwise I'd leave them in a heartbeat. RBS sucks... ps...I suspect that most other banks are the same... Reviewed on: 18th November 2016

An absolute godsend

During a pretty vicious storm here in the Highlands we lost part of our roof during the night. It was only in the morning when I left the house that I found the whole roof ridge with one end hanging from the roof and the other in the front garden surrounded by various slates and other stuff. We live quite close to the main road and I was worried that due to the ongoing high winds we were going to lose the rest of the roof and possibly injure a passer by or driver. I needn't have worried.! I knew that LV were my insurers but couldn't find my policy documents or any details but when I spoke to them, they found all my info in seconds.! They asked if I had a roofer I wanted to use or would they get on for me. I decided to use a local chap and all I had to do was give him a ring. He came out and looked at the job, sent photos by email to LV and they phoned him 5 mins later to tell him to carry on with the job. I was absolutely gobsmacked..! They also phoned me a day or two later just to check if we had suffered any water damage to our belongings stored in the loft. I just don't think you can beat that for service. We hear so many horror stories about how difficult insurance companies can be but LV were wonderful. They were calm, re-assuring and got the job done without drama or panic over the cost. I just wouldn't go anywhere else. Reviewed on: 13th August 2016
