In my experience it is rather difficult to deposit money into Moneybox. A bank account must be linked which takes a few days to be approved. You can only set up a direct debit or make an instant payment from that linked account. As far as I know only one account can be linked at a time. Also it can take up to 2 days to get a reply on the chat (support) which feels more like email that instant chat. Other than that I love the educational material on the app and emails Reviewed on: 31st March 2024

My fun account!

I use this account mainly to save for, then spend on, different trips. Earning pretty high interest on my travel money makes it even more fun. And since they've introduced pot, I can easily earmark my money for specific travel goals. Finally, since there are no fees to use the card overseas it's perfect! Reviewed on: 29th February 2024

Good overall but needs improvements

I was mainly drawn to Chase for the 1% cashback on spending. Then I got excited about the 5% interest on round-ups and the "change account you pay with" feature. However, the app is very sluggish (at least on Android) which makes it a pain to use. I often can't change the account I want to pay with fast enough and end up moving money between accounts after I leave the shop. I also stopped using the insights/budgeting tool for that reason. This latter tool isn't great anyway because internal money movements are counted as payments so I often "go over budget". Insights is interesting as it shows where (shops/categories) where I spend the most. Going back to the 5% on round-ups - sounds like a lot but over a year it ended up being about £5 in interest. Round-ups in itself is a good feature, I saved (interest excluded) about £290 over a year. The savings account interest rate can be beaten elsewhere so I didn't use it for very long. The 1% cashback is great although after the 1st year there's a £15 cap per month, I rarely spent enough to go over that amount (even if the first year had no cap). Never had issues with cashback or withdrawing my earnings. Last thing, it's a numberless card which is supposed to be more secure but is actually pretty annoying because the app is slow, so whenever I need my card details I end up all worked up. Plus it means I can't use that card to book train tickets when the card is needed to pick up the tickets at the station. It also made it awkward returning a purchase at Argos once and a few times with TfL because the card number shown on the transaction is different (again for security reasons). I do love that I can use it overseas with no fees and close to perfect exchange rate. I also like how easy it is to open extra accounts, name them, and leave detailed notes on transactions. It's still a pretty good account and my main one for everyday spending. Reviewed on: 17th February 2024

High interest current account

Current account with high interest that constantly goes up with the base rate. I'm basically using it as a savings account. Transfers are instantaneous and stress free. Customer service is quick and friendly. Great alternative to brick and mortar bank with low interest rates or limits to your monthly contributions! Reviewed on: 2nd June 2023
