Don't fall for the price, service is disgraceful

My husband broke down, by sheer chance, opposite a car repair place which was closed at the time (6pm). We contacted 2gether Breakdown and gave the name of the car repair place so they could easily find us. We were in an unsafe place on a main road at peak traffic time. We were told that they could not pick us up as we were 'at a place of repair'. They naturally offered us a paid service (going into hundreds of pounds) despite us having a premium level policy. We declined this and ended up paying £96 for a local service instead. Upon complaining, someone from Emergency Assist (trading as 2gether Breakdown) advised me the complaint would not be upheld and we can only go to Small Claims Court if we want to escalate. I checked reviews of this company and all the 5 star reviews are for price but all the 1 star reviews are for the service - it appears they do anything to avoid coming out for free and will always find a way to make customers pay.
