Your vet bills are certainly not covered

1
In August our family dog of 12 years developed diabetes, the vet was not able to help him recover, and we had to take the very hard decision to have him put to sleep (which is also not covered by Perfect pet). From the word go perfect pet insurance has been trying their hardest to make my life hell and get out of paying everything they can, they demanded that on the day I had to put Doug to sleep I told the vet that "he had been losing weight for months" and they needed the exact date I noticed this. They would not move my claim forward until the 5th time I emailed them saying I don't remember such a statement, that I only noticed a week before that he looked a little skinny and I up'd his food, there is no such date and so if I gave them a date it would be a lie. Once they eventually accepted that, months later (while the vet chased me for the £600 payment of the overnight treatment my dog received) they sent me a break down of my remittance. This was my second year with “Perfect Pet” which would have amounted to around £600 and my dog has always been healthy and has always had insurance with other companies over the course of his life. The Vet bill was around £900 you think this would be one of those rare times when getting the insurance was a good choice? sometimes there is a slight ray of sun in a dark moment, at least my vet bills would be covered for the most part, not with perfect pet there isn't, and your vet bills are certainly not covered. After applying their "Terms and conditions" to my claim I will be getting £230. That is less than half of what I have paid them in premiums and nowhere near the actual vet bill of £900, maybe their promotional material should read only 25% of your vet bills covered, I would have been better of not getting any insurance at all. One of the main costs they like to take from your claim is the "premiums" these are what you have left to pay on your policy after your pet is already dead, wow. They don't cover Vet costs for "forms", they don’t cover "Vet consumables", they don't cover "admission or discharge fees", they do cover less than half of your pet hospitalisation cover, and less than half of the cost of blood tests. What a generous company, I'm not sure if all insurance companies are like this but stay well clear of this one as you might as well setup a DD to a savings account than give your well-earned cash to this lot. I will say that the people I spoke to on the phone were very nice and caring. Which in a way made the whole being shafted that much more painful as they lure you in to a false sense of caring and security. Reviewed on: 3rd December 2024
