Looks great on the surface but poor support

Looks great on the surface but you can't actually speak to anyone should you have an issue. You have to email them and wait hours for a response. Many companies don't accept the account details for direct debits. I wanted to use them for all my banking needs but gave up. Reviewed on: 16th April 2026

I have had current accounts with many banks in my time, but the Royal Bank of Scotland is a cut above. The account works flawlessly and as a senior citizen there I have access to an over-60's telephone number which gets you through to a real person in a couple of minutes. I've tried the newer fin-tech banks but when you need to speak to someone they just don't work. Some of these new banks only provide customer service during working hours, so if you are the victim of a scam, or have some other urgent issue, at the weekend, good luck to you! A solid bank account

RBS provides an over 60s telephone line which is answered quickly by someone who can sort out the problem. The banking service is rock-solid and the app and online service is excellent. Reviewed on: 20th November 2024

Sub par experience

No Apple or Google Pay - something all its competitors have. "Faster Payments' can take up to two days where with other banks a faster payment is pretty much instantaneous. Better to go with a bank slightly less ethical but which offers a modern banking experience. Reviewed on: 15th January 2022

It Just Works!

I love Metro Bank because things work as expected. Faster Payments are instant - which can't be said for some other banks - and I can see pending transactions in my online account, so as soon as I have used my debit card I can see the transaction. The staff in store are very friendly and helpful as are the staff at the end of the telephone. All as it should be, but often isn't elsewhere. Reviewed on: 11th April 2021
