Review of the M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer, Current Account:

Swtiching was so painful I pulled out

1
I tried to make an appointment to switch my current account, but couldn't get through. I then visited Braehead branch, and made an appointment. They couldn't give me one for over two weeks. Come the day of the appointment, I forgot my bag, and therefore my driving licence and the Debit Card / Account Number of the bank I was switching from. I still had utility bills, including my Council Tax bill, and an expired passport as alternative means of identity. Also, I offered to bring the forgotten documents in at a later point, and suggested we just get on with setting up the account. But they couldn't do that. The only thing they could offer was another appointment in more than two weeks time. Again. So I just pulled out of the process. If this is what M&S thinks is \new fashioned banking\" I'm sure the branch managers must all like their penny farthing \""company cars\"". This bank is dreadful. And reading other reviews regarding off-shore call centres. looks like a I dodged a bullet. It's just not worth the hassle switching for a poxy gift card.""" Reviewed on: 17th June 2017

Black box insurance rip off

1
We took out car insurance with Hastings and as we are young drivers we chose their black box scheme . DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP. We have been told twice that they are cancelling our policy due to their OWN faulty box , which they even sent out someone to fix! Now they expect us to pay £255!!! As a cancellation fee. We have complained lots and all we are getting is awful and rude customer service .We will be eventually taking this to court if this carries on. I would say 0/10,don't get his if you are new driver!!!! Reviewed on: 12th June 2017

Not as user friendly as they would have you believe

1
Nationwide offered me an online loan some time ago, then after a couple of years, simply withdrew it without any notice and expected me to pay it all back instantly. When I couldn't, they froze my account and removed it from my online accounts, so i can't even see how much I owe them now!!! Beware, they are just another greedy money-grabbing bank by another name. Very hard to access online

1
We have to change passwords every time we access as the system cannot recognise the last password we used; very time consuming. Interest rates are low so why bother with a bank who's IT is so inefficient? Reviewed on: 10th June 2017
