Ok but nothing special

The Select account is a good basic bank account. However there are a few frustrations with Natwest in general. I have found issues with the level of service in our local branch and opening hours are short. The security measures needed to transfer money are frustrating (need a card reader so difficult to do on the go). There have been recent modifications so you can now send small amounts but it doesn't save the payee. It also doesn't save payees that are created by the other joint account holder which is frustrating as you need to set them up twice. Reviewed on: 19th November 2017

Numerous problems with poor customer service.

Our account usually runs fine as I very rarely need to speak to them but whenever I have I have had issues. We were given incorrect information when being offered a packaged account but because I listened to them and then later changed the account online they are not interested. I also had significant issues with my children accounts as they had copies of my signature in my maiden name and in my married name against the children accounts and wouldn't let us withdraw any money because there were not two signatories. Very old fashioned business model and very poor value for renewals

I joined Swinton due to the cheap price that I was offered and a cash back offer through a cashback website. I was initially shocked that I had to physically post several items to a branch and that the opening hours of the branch seemed to hark back to the 1970's. When the cash back was due to be paid I had to wait for approximately 6 months. They did eventually rectify this after much pursuing from me. They then phoned me when I needed to renew and as I was busy I asked for information to be sent to me. I was told that they would not offer me the best price unless I had a conversation with the woman from the branch so I told them not to renew my policy as I did not like their business practices. Despite this they renewed my policy anyway at around twice the cost that I could get the same policy elsewhere. I will never be using them again even iff they gave away insurance for free. They are the only company that I have com across that still require me to go to or post things to a branch to set up my insurance. They promised cash back that I had to chase and they renewed my policy when I had asked them not to. They would also only give me their best price if I talked to a woman on the phone. Ridiculous prices
