Income protection

I have been currently waiting 6 weeks to receive payment from an income protection insurance that I took out in Aug 2019. At the time I made sure I clarified any existing conditions and the validity of this policy in relation to them. However, since taking out the policy I have developed a problem completely unrelated to the pre existing conditions, I have completed the required paperwork, supplied relevant documentation and additional appointments which I have attended in the hospital. Unfortunately I am being penalised because my GP despite numerous phone calls to the surgery still hasn’t completed the report they’ve requested. And now they want to know if I have any reports stating that I did not suffer from the problem prior to taking out the policy. I did expect to have an uphill battle after reading the reviews of this product on numerous sites, however I intend to seek legal advice if this isn’t resolved soon. The Financial Times have sung their praises in an article published about British Friendly earlier this year. Maybe they need to contact a few customers who are still waiting for them to honour their promise of income protection. If I’m not paid out soon I will have no option other than to return to work as a nurse and hope my hip doesn’t completely go causing me further injuries.
