Review of the Zurich, Home Insurance:

I will never use Zurich again !!!!!!

Never needed to claim insurance before, but unfortunately someone broke into our garage twice – in October our big garden gate and garage door was destroyed, and 2 e-bikes were stolen. On the second burglary (November) - the main garage door and the fence were destroyed, 1 motorbike was stolen. Because there were 2 burglaries the claims were handed over to Zurich investigation department. And the “fun” began: They didn’t like our first quote as the person was not vat registered. After that we supplied different quotes from companies, that we found on Checkatrade. We were questioned why one supplier quoted for garage gate and the other for the main door to the garage – like we were responsible for the wording of the quotes. They sent the person to our house, who supposed to make photos of damages, but she was doing a background check up on us. Every detail on our insurance was checked – that we definitely have correct details on our policy insurance. A lot of questions were asked: do we have any convictions, do we run business from home, does anyone else live with us etc. Two months later claims were still opened and our insurance run out. We were not offered a renewal with Zurich, so it was very costly for us to find proper insurance while having opened claims. From that moment there was almost no communication from them. Things only moved forward when I called the customer service and complain, as Mr. Investigator didn’t pick up his phone, didn’t return voicemails and didn’t acknowledge emails. In the middle of April, they sent a subcontractor to check the damages and to do a quote. Mr Zurich investigator was reviewing the quote for 2 months – after chasing it up we were told that the case is now with claim department. I called the claim department today (21.06.23) and was told the subcontractor is sorting out the claim. My questions are: who were we insured with - Zurich or your subcontractor? How long does it take to sort out the insurance claim? I feel really sorry for people who need to claim insurance for major accidenst and losses with Zurich if they go through the same process as we experienced. It is very heart breaking if someone steals your belongings for which you work hard to buy them. But with Zurich insurance claim process it is even worse. I will never use Zurich again !!!!!!
